Today, the Walt Disney Co. agreed to purchase the Marvel company and character catalog for a hefty 4 billion dollars. This means that Disney now owns all the X-Men, Spiderman, Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Storm and about 5,000 more Marvel characters. That means that if there are in fact 5,000 characters Disney is going to add to their extensive library, thanks to my ingenious 4 billion divided by 5,000 math problem, that means they shelled out about 800,000 dollars per character. When you look at it that way, I’d say its not a bad deal.
The staff here at Anteaterr has already been cracking rumors this morning stating that Disney will be remaking some of their most beloved classics with Marvel characters. While they may not seem natural at first, we feel that you will quickly adjust to the new look and feel of Disney.
Our staff artist Dave has already took it upon himself to render some of these potential Disney Marvel mashups. Although they are just rough designs at the moment, I believe they are very accurate.
Disney felt that Aladdin could use a slight make over. The Disney design staff felt that Aladdin, like the genie, needed more powers. Aladdin can’t fly, he’s a street rat of course, and that was dragging down ratings. Well now that Disney owns Iron Man, they get another whack at it and they are going to run with it. Look for a new blaster-toting, technologic arabian hero soon.
Recently dubbed, Hulkulese, the famous green giant will be making it’s way back to the big screen with a whole new attitude. Watch out Meg, theres a new hero in town and he will make your old hero green with envy.
Don’t worry little girls, I know sometimes Marvel characters can be a little scary sometimes but Disney is a family friendly company and they’ve got you covered. Having storm in a skin tight, busty jump suit isn’t the image Disney is going for so they decided to put her in a dress. The new look, while a little more feminine, is none the less powerful. Storm White will be revamped with a brand new mirror sporting a new attitude with loads of wise cracks. Casting for the dwarfs is still in progress.
Last but not least, Steam Boat Wolverine, will be sailing it’s way out of the archives and back into a theater new you according to our sources. The classic tale will feature less annoying whistling and more claws.
We feel that the purchase of Marvel by Disney is pure creative gold. We can’t wait to see what else Disney has in store for us in the future. Stay tuned for more updates.
